    Overview

    The main purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store manager day to day to maximise the potential and profitability of the store by, continuous improvement in the service provided to customers, maximising both turnover and gross margin, control of costs and maximising the potential of all staff through good management and leadership skills.

    DUTIES

    Strategic

    Assist in the recruitment and training of all staff ensuring all undergo induction, product knowledge, health and safety and customer service training.

    Assist in ensuring all staff trained such that they are fully conversant with point of sale procedures and requirements and strictly adhere to those procedures and requirements

    Assist in ensuring staff are trained and conversant with written cash handling/banking procedures and those procedures are adhered to.

    Ensure the store is kept clean and tidy and in a manner that is aesthetically pleasing to customers.

    Assist in ensuring all staff are trained in customer service and deliver a professional and friendly service to customers

    Ensure all deliveries are stored in a timely manner and to maximise stock rotation and minimise out of date losses.

    In conjunction with Store Manager assist in ensuring the store layout maximises the potential sale of stock lines with gross margin considerations given due priority

    Assist in ensuring appropriate in store controls and routines are correctly adhered to by staff.

    Deputise for Store Manager both on rota and during periods of holiday, absence etc.

    Staff discipline applied both where appropriate and professionally


    Day to Day.

    All staff rotas completed and posted, holiday requests approved within business needs etc.

    Tills and floats cashed daily and available for use.

    Assist Store manager in placing stock orders, both by need giving consideration to sales stock rotation and in a timely manner

    All deliveries stored in a timely manner

    Ensure staff rotate stock when storing deliveries

    Periodic checks for out of date stocks.

    Periodic checks to ensure correct price tickets on goods

    All wage and head office returned within deadlines and in a timely manner

    Ensure all customer complaints dealt with by appropriate person and in a timely manner.

    Stock take undertaken where appropriate.

    All refunds to be approved by either manager or assistant manager

    Day to day duties in respect of smooth running of store eg, operate tills customer service.

    All other duties as deemed reasonable from time to time by Store Manager
